If you’re a fan of the Wombat State Forest, you’re probably acquainted with the legendary Blackwood Hotel.

And you may also be aware that the Blackwood Hotel has just undergone a fabulous makeover, and now boasts a gorgeous modern light-filled interior.

The menu has experienced a serious revamp as well: we’re talking expertly-prepared versions of modern gasto-pub fare, from paellas and burgers to steaks, along with vegetarian options such as a delicious roasted cauliflower main.

At the bar, we’ve got six beers on tap, along with a cider and a hard lemon option, and a compact but thoughful Central Victorian-flavoured wine list.

Built in 1868, the Blackwood is the oldest weatherboard pub with a continuous licence, and strongly rumoured both by staff and paranormal investigators to be haunted.

But don’t let that put you off. The Blackwood Hotel is as popular today as it’s ever been, with weekends bringing waves of city visitors, joining dedicated locals for an up market country pub experience in an exceptionally beautiful part of the world.
