Mineral Springs in Blackwood, Ballan and Spargo Creek

Moorabool has three locations where you can pump your own refreshing and nutritious spring water direct from underground.

Two of the mineral springs reserves – at Ballan and Spargo Creek – have recently been marked with Council-commissioned sculptures to support Indigenous interpretation at the sites.

The sculptures comprise two interconnected works made from 120 year old locally sourced red gum, that reflect the ecological and cultural values of the mineral springs and the Moorabool River.

Blackwood Mineral Springs

Blackwood Mineral Springs Reserve banks of the Lerderderg River, offers a number of spring taps to sample from including a fizzy soda spring on the car park wide of the river.

Here, you can sample some mineral water, take a walk across the footbridge to enjoy views down the creek, or take your pick from a number of walking tracks.

The Reserve offers undercover picnic areas along with free barbecues, picnic tables and seating.

Ballan Mineral Springs

Ballan’s Mineral Spring Reserve is somewhat hidden, but once discovered is hard to forget, with spring water comparable to that of the famed Hepburn Springs region.

You’ll find it adjacent to Bostock Reservoir, where a parking area is bordered by picnic tables, in a lovely shady setting overlooking the eastern branch of the Moorabool River.

You’ll also find Brim Brim, one of two Council-commissioned sculptures to support Indigenous interpretation at local mineral spring sites.

Bring some bottles and pump your own spring water to take home, or make it your first stop on a walk around Bostock Reservoir.
