Strawberry picking is underway in Bacchus Marsh, although recent rain has reduced the amount of ripe fruit available. Cherry season is approaching, with the first orchards expected to open during November.
🍓 Strawberries — limited picking available
Naturipe Fruits – Bacchus Marsh
Naturipe's Strawberry and Persimmon Farm, at 534 Bacchus Marsh Road, has announced a limited strawberry-picking session for Wednesday 28 October, from 8.30am to approximately 9.30am.
Recent rain has left very few ripe strawberries available, so the farm expects to be open for around one hour only, and may close earlier if all available fruit is picked or sold.
Both pick-your-own and freshly picked strawberries are available, subject to supply.
Further opening days have not yet been confirmed. Production is expected to increase as the weather warms, with peak strawberry picking generally arriving around mid-November.
Visitors should bring cash, as EFTPOS is not available.

🍒 Cherries — coming soon
The Bacchus Marsh cherry season is expected to begin during November.
Naturipe Fruits expects cherry picking at its main farm, 638 Bacchus Marsh Road, to begin in early to mid-November. The farm is currently closed.
Payne's Orchards, at 372 Bacchus Marsh Road, remains closed for winter and expects to reopen in November. Picking is by pre-booked session, with opening dates dependent on fruit ripeness and weather conditions.
Dellios Orchards, at 664 Bacchus Marsh Road, also offers pick-your-own cherries, although opening dates and arrangements for the 2026/27 season have not yet been confirmed.
The Moorabool region has a well-earned reputation for the excellence of its fresh fruit and vegetables, and throughout the year local farms welcome visitors eager to get involved.
Bacchus Marsh’s Avenue of Honour (also known as Bacchus Marsh Road) is home to a number of the area’s key fruit and veg growers, and you’ll find it dotted with roadside stalls and farm gates where goods are available for purchase.
And if you are willing to get your hands (mildly) dirty, there are a number of farms catering to those wanting to take to the paddocks and pick their own fruit.
Fruit available for picking includes:
Strawberries and other berries (November - April)
Cherries (November, December)
Apples (January - May)
Peaches and nectarines (December - February)
Apricots (January, February).
