It’s official: Moorabool’s music scene is going off in October!

• Old Melbourne Road, playing at the Gordon Hotel in October.

This month there are over a dozen opportunities to catch live music across our region, at awesome country pubs, markets and events.

Stoney’s Club in Bacchus Marsh has recently stepped back up to the live music plate, and this month presents live music every Saturday.

Stoney’s has booked a number of solo singer/guitarists to play in their beer garden for the month, with Adam Tardrew on October 4, Brendan ‘Brunsy’ Bruns on October 12, and Mick Sita on the 19th, with cover band Turnstyle finishing off the month in the Sports Bar on Saturday 26.

While we’re in Bacchus Marsh, the Royal Hotel has been busy building a great following for their regular events – watch out for their Tuesday ‘Strictly Quizness’ trivia sessions – and has booked DJ Renee Tui to play the first Friday of every month. Renee’s an absolute crowd pleaser, and isn’t afraid to mix hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s and 2000s, across r’n’b, pop, rock and country, so come prepared to dance.

A little further west, live music always goes well at the Gordon Hotel. There’s something about the atmosphere in this gem of a country pub that encourages that bond between audience and performer that makes for a special show.

So don’t miss seven-piece Irish/folk/traditional band Old Melbourne Road when they take to the Gordon Hotel stage for an afternoon show on Sunday October 6, kicking off at 3pm.

Meanwhile over at Greendale, the Greendale Pub is another great venue for live music, and they’ve presented some killer shows in recent years.

This month they’ll welcome Macedon Ranges singer-songwriter Marlee Grace for a Sunday session, playing 12.30pm – 3.30pm on Sunday 27.

Ballan’s Commercial Hotel will be hosting a special music event on Saturday 26 October called ‘Be Strong. Be Loud. Be Heard.’

The event brings together local acoustic artists and bands including 100 Years War, Neck Grip, Cop-U-Laters and Cave Canem, to raise awareness about mental health challenges and suicide.

Funds raised go to support Keeley’s Cause and AfterBags by The Mental Health Coach.

Pubs not your thing? That’s okay, because there are plenty of other live music options this month.

St Anne’s Winery is featuring live music at their ‘Sip and Bloom’ event and also at their regular Pizza Sundays.

And there’ll be live music at some local markets too, including the Creative Kids Mini Market at Bacchus Marsh’s Big Apple Cafe on Saturday 19th, and the annual Lal Lal Market on Sunday 27.
