On any Saturday morning Ballan’s main street is a busy place, welcoming locals for their weekly shop alongside day trippers enjoying a weekend drive through town. But it’s never busier than the first Saturday of the month, when the Ballan Lions Community Market lines Inglis Street with stalls ranging from flea market to upmarket.

This October, the market is turning pink for Pink Up Ballan, with stallholders encouraged to decorate their stalls and visitors invited to dress in pink and join the fun. Better still, every dollar raised by the Ballan Lions Community Market during the October market will be donated to Pink Up Your Town – Ballan in support of the McGrath Foundation.

There’ll still be everything you love about the regular market – second-hand goods and collectables, fresh produce, local crafts and plenty of country-market bargains – just with an extra splash of pink and a great cause behind it.

Make a morning of it and explore the market, Ballan’s shops and cafés, and the town’s much-loved op shops at either end of Inglis Street.
