We Are Not Powerless Screening and Q & A

  • St Martin's Chapel Martin Street Blackwood, Victoria, 3458 Australia (map)

Experience an inspiring true story of resilience, hope and the power of community when We Are Not Powerless comes to St Martin's Chapel in Blackwood for a special screening and Q&A with co-director Muzafar Ali.

This award-winning Australian documentary follows the remarkable journey of Afghan refugees stranded in Indonesia after Australia's "Stop the Boats" policy. With just a small donation, Muzafar Ali and his wife Nagina established a two-room school that went on to inspire a refugee-led education movement, transforming the lives of countless children.

Following the 90-minute screening, audiences will have the opportunity to hear directly from Muzafar Ali during a special question and answer session. Funds raised from the evening will support the Cisarua Refugee Learning Centre, the school founded by Muzafar and Nagina. Sharing snack plates, tea and coffee will also be available to purchase.

Friday 26 June • 6.30pm - 8.30pm • St Martin's Chapel, Blackwood
