FlackPTO Gallery: showcasing local contemporary art

A super-iconic presence in Ballan’s main street, the FlackPTO building started life as the township’s original post and telegraph office.

That was in 1864, but the building remained in possession of the Flack family through six generations, and in 2024 re-opened in its new guise as a visual arts gallery and studio space.

There’s been some serious renovation, but the walls have been kept in their original state, highlighting the original markings left from the old post and telegraph office.

It’s a lovely link to history in a venue that’s all about showcasing local contemporary art.

The gallery is open Friday to Sunday, with a continually changing collection of pieces on display, all of which are up for sale.
