Ballan turns pink this Thursday: October fundraising begins

Ballan is getting ready to turn pink from this Thursday, 1 October, as Pink Up Ballan begins a month of community events and fundraising for the McGrath Foundation.

Residents, businesses and community groups are invited to add a splash of pink, join in the activities and help support the Foundation’s work funding free McGrath Cancer Care Nurses for people experiencing cancer. About the Foundation’s work.

The first weekend brings two great reasons to head into town on Saturday 3 October:

• Pink Up Ballan Market and Family Fun Day: 9am–2pm at St Paul’s Uniting Church, home of the regular Ballan Farmers’ Market. RAT FM will be broadcasting LIVE  from the event. 

• Pre-Loved in Pink Pop-Up Op Shop: at the former Skin Inn premises in Inglis Street, with a chance to browse for a bargain and support the cause.

Pink Up Ballan builds on the community spirit of the original 2019 campaign, when local businesses, clubs, community groups and volunteers across Ballan and the surrounding district came together to organise fundraising activities throughout October.

This year’s campaign is an initiative of the Ballan Autumn Festival Association and the Ballan & District Chamber of Commerce. The program includes markets, art, music, a fashion show, cricket and the Pink Ball on 24 October, with local groups and businesses bringing their own ideas and energy to the month. Explore the program.

Everyone can play a part — by attending an event, supporting a fundraiser, decorating a shopfront or simply encouraging friends and family to join in.
